A disciplinary hearing for a Cleveland Police inspector has been adjourned over concerns about a member sitting on the panel.
Inspector Mark Doherty was due to face a gross misconduct hearing on Monday at Scotswood House in Stockton.
But shortly after proceedings began, an issue was raised by a person attending regarding a superintendent sitting on the panel.
And after discussions in private, the chairwoman ruled, as the superintendent had previously worked with Insp Doherty and had recently attended a meeting when he was present, they would have to seek an alternative panel member.
The hearing was adjourned to a date to be set.
Insp Doherty is facing a disciplinary hearing over allegations he passed on confidential information he accessed from the force computer system to a third party.
The Cleveland Police officer is also accused of altering a document during the course of the gross misconduct investigation.
According to a notice on the force’s website, the document included information about a member of the public believed to be “false and misleading”.
He is accused of breaching the standards of professional behaviour in respect of authority, respect and courtesy, confidentiality, orders and instructions and discreditable conduct.
