A POLICE officer is facing a gross misconduct disciplinary hearing after admitting accessing confidential data and sharing it with a family member.
He has been placed before an accelerated misconduct hearing after accepting a criminal caution for unlawfully accessing Cleveland Police computers.
PC Christopher Marrison photographed the information before sharing it.
The force’s website says the conduct contained in allegation three breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct and amounts to gross misconduct.
The details of the allegations are also set out in the document on the website.
The first allegation relates to his activities on June 24 2021 when PC Marrison accessed confidential, personal information through police systems.
The second incident happened on same day when he took two photographs of the confidential, personal information he had obtained from police systems and sent them to a family member, via text message.
The force says this conduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Confidentiality and Discreditable Conduct and amounts to gross misconduct.
In the online disciplinary section, the force also states that on September 3, 2021, PC Marrison received an adult caution having admitted a criminal breach of his data protection obligations.
The officer could face a range of action as a result of the hearing, including instant dismissal from the force.
The disciplinary hearing takes place on Wednesday from 10am at Scotswood House, Thornaby Place, Thornaby.
