Lancashire police alleged to have tampered with evidence

An allegation of evidence tampering is being raised against Lancashire police.

During a wrongful conviction against a man in 2018, evidence collected at the scene by Lancashire police officers has been been alleged to have been tampered with.

During a police interview where the CCTV evidence was played, an audio commentary clarified certain events in the CCTV.

During the trial, where the victim was wrongfully convicted (later acquitted) the CCTV evidence no longer had the ‘certain events‘ as clarified in the interview.  it was in part, this missing evidence that was heavily relied upon in the first trial that secured the wrongful conviction.

No further information will be posted about this as legal advice is being taken regarding these very serious allegations.
