Two Met officers who described the bodies of two sisters brutally murdered in a park in North London as “dead birds” will be kicked out of the police for gross misconduct, a hearing has ruled.
Pc Jamie Lewis, 33, and former officer Deniz Jaffer, 47, shared crime scene photos of murdered sisters Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, after their bodies were discovered in Fryent Country Park in Wembley, in June 2020.
The pair were sent to guard the crime scene after the bodies of the two sisters were found.
Bibaa and Nicole had been celebrating Bibaa’s birthday when they were viciously stabbed multiple times by Danyal Hussein, 19.
He then dragged their bodies into bushes and left them with their limbs entwined in a deliberate act to defile them in death.
Jaffer and Lewis answered misconduct allegations at the Met’s Empress Building in West London on Wednesday (November 24), the BBC reports.
At the hearing, PC Helen Tierney said Jaffer and Lewis had left the cordon they were instructed to guard and took pictures of the bodies of the dead sisters, despite not having the “authority or a policing purpose to do so.”
She revealed how Lewis sent a WhatsApp message which read: “Unfortunately I’m sat next to two dead birds with stab wounds.”
This was followed by Jaffer sending a message in a WhatsApp group explaining: “I’m here now I’ll try to take pictures of the dead birds.”
The panel was told Lewis had denied “with confidence” that he had taken any pictures when he was questioned following his arrest, however images were then found on his phone.
