After our breaking story, it was picked up by the Nottingham Post. The article highlights that Nottinghamshire police had investigated the offence but, seemingly kept it under wraps. They say one officer (believed to be Adam Brown) was sacked, the others kept their jobs in light of their misogynistic comments. Ask yourself this, would you like any of these officers to deal with your daughter if she needed the help of police?
The UKCP website has recently been provided with screenshots from a Nottinghamshire Police WhatsApp group with many disturbing photographs and misogynist comments from serving Nottinghamshire police officers. We have also been reliably informed that Nottinghamshire Police have seen the screenshots and taken no action.
This is likely to be one of many hundreds (or thousands) of simillar WhatsApp groups that have harboured the likes of Wayne Couzens and David Carrick.
The known police officers in the WhatsApp group are Adam Brown (Adam ‘Squat’ Brown), Jonny Groves, Louis Jamieson, Matthew Storor, John Cross, Karl Wilson, Andy Crawford, John Burton, Andy Cummins, Jach Millichip & Aaron Chen. All of the named police officers were privy to the offensive comments.
Chief Inspector Andrew Reynolds, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate, said: “We are aware of Whatsapp screenshots currently circulating on social media concerning multiple comments made by Nottinghamshire Police officers.
“There has already been a thorough and detailed misconduct and criminal investigation into these messages which has since concluded in July 2022. As a result, we have dismissed one officer, and they no longer work for Nottinghamshire Police and are on the College of Policing barred list, so they cannot work in policing ever again.
“Two others were dealt with by disciplinary sanctions. Other officers involved were given management advice.
“I would like to make it perfectly clear that Nottinghamshire Police do not tolerate this kind of behaviour and we will thoroughly investigate any reports made to us. The vast majority of our employees maintain the highest possible professional standards which makes it all the more important we address instances where individuals’ behaviour has fallen short of these expectations.”
