A Gloucestershire police officer has been caught regularly watching hardcore pornography and execution videos on his work computer at a police station.
The police constable was sacked at county force misconduct hearing for his behaviour after watching the horrific material five times while on duty.
He was also found to have accessed the Police National Computer to obtain confidential information inappropriately.
Gloucestershire Constabulary releases the outcomes of its public misconduct hearings for both officers and staff in the interests of openness and transparency.
There have been several serious incidents In the last year which have resulted in heavy punishments with some officers being sacked.
The force has not released any information that could identify the officer, including the department he worked in.
A Gloucestershire police spokesman said the misconduct outcomes are published on the force website and they are now mostly held in public.
“While these were serious matters they have all been dealt with firmly using established internal processes and we publish the results to be open and transparent,” he said.
“Ultimately we think that publishing the outcomes improves our legitimacy and should give people confidence in us.
“We have a professional standards department and an anti-corruption unit to identify wrongdoing in the organisation and actively encourage the public and staff to report concerns to us.”
There have been several cases this year where officers and police staff were found to have misused their computers.
An officer handed in their notice, saying there were ‘exceptional circumstances’ at their hearing in July when they were found to have made a number of data protection breaches.
Back in April two police staff members were each given a written warning which will stay on their record for 12 months.
They had both been caught printing off large amounts of material as well as printed documents at work for their own personal use.
