Sarah Everard murderer Wayne Couzens may face whole life sentence

The police officer who abducted, raped and murdered Sarah Everard could spend the rest of his life in prison, it emerged today, as a second opportunity for him to have been stopped earlier was revealed.

PC Wayne Couzens, 48, will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to murder today and Lord Justice Fulford told the Old Bailey that he was considering a whole life tariff.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct revealed that Couzens is suspected of committing indecent exposure in 2015 and it is examining alleged failures by Kent Police to investigate the incident.

The police watchdog is already investigating two Met officers for misconduct after Couzens was reported for alleged indecent exposure on February 28, three days before Everard, 33, vanished as
