
A serving GMP officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
The 47-year-old remains in custody where he is being questioned by detectives.
It follows an investigation into alleged misconduct by the Professional Standards Branch of Greater Manchester Police.
The officer is believed to have been accused of assaulting a woman in a patrol car whilst on duty.
He had been suspended from duty following allegations about his conduct in the workplace.
Now he has been arrested on suspicion of sex assault and remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said:
“We can confirm we have received reports of misconduct in the workplace against a serving GMP officer, who has been suspended following these allegations.
“An investigation is underway by our Professionals Standards Branch and a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault as part of our enquiries.
“He remains in custody for questioning.”
