On Tuesday, 22 June, PC Kieron Sutton, 21, now attached to the South Area Borough Command Unit, was given a ten-day rehabilitation order, 70 hours of unpaid work and a six-month restraining order not to contact the victim.
This comes after he was found guilty at the same court on Thursday, 13 May.
An allegation of harassment was made against PC Sutton on 24 July 2020. This allegation stated that between 23 and 24 July 2020, PC Sutton had called the victim 85 times and sent numerous messages to her despite being told to stop.
The messages were not abusive or threatening, however, the quantity was excessive.
PC Sutton, who was attached to the Central South BCU at the time, denied the allegation of harassment but admitted to making the calls and sending the messages.
The allegation was investigated by the South East Safeguarding Unit. PC Sutton was charged and convicted as above.
A misconduct review, led by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, will now take place to ascertain whether PC Sutton had breached the standards of professional behaviour.
Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, Borough Commander for the Central South area, said: “PC Sutton’s actions were unacceptable. We are committed to bringing the perpetrators of such crimes to justice and protecting and supporting victims of harassment.
“Misconduct proceedings will now take place following the conclusion of criminal proceedings.”
