A local police officer has been charged after it was revealed he had allegedly been inappropriately contacting a domestic abuse victim.
PC Pervinder Mann from Warwickshire Police will appear in court this week charged with misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice.
The 53-year-old’s alleged behaviour came to light when an investigation was carried out by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following a referral from the police force back in July 2020.
The IOPC said they “conducted a thorough and independent investigation” into the alleged “inappropriate contact” PC Mann had with the vicitm “during the course of his duties”.
“After the end of the investigation in March 2021, we shared our report, along with supporting evidence, with the Crown Prosecution Service who decided to authorise charges of misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice,” the IOPC added.
PC Mann will be in Coventry Magistrates Court on Friday, March 11.
Warwickshire Police say PC Mann is currently suspended pending the outcome of misconduct proceedings.
